What makes the Ergo Baby Carrier different?
It is a soft' carrier - without a frame - that disperses the weight of the baby evenly between the parent's hips and shoulders (like a framed backpack carrier but without the bulk).
Unlike a framed backpack carrier, which sits the baby away from the parent's body and throws the parent's equilibrium off, The Ergo hugs the baby close to the parent's torso and makes it easier for a parent or carer to manoeuvre.

In The ERGO, the baby sits in a pouch created by the body of the carrier; in many other carriers the baby hangs by the crotch. This distinction between 'sitting' and 'hanging' is significant because when the baby is in a seated position the weight of the head is dispersed between the spine, hips and thighs, causing less compression of the spine than if the baby were hanging in a carrier.
The ergonomic design supports a correct sitting position for baby's physical development and eliminates compression on baby's spine.

FABRIC: The ERGObaby Sport Carrier is made from a blend of 35% cotton/65% polyester, while the Performance Carrier features an exterior of 98% lycra/2% polyester (Grey) or 70% nylon/30% cotton (Green). Performance carriers also have a CoolMax panel for extra wicking, and a mesh lining.
WEIGHT: Due to the difference in fabrics, the ERGObaby Performance Carrier is about 1/3 lighter weight than the ERGObaby Sport, Original, or Organic carriers.
WAIST BELT: Both carriers have waist belts that can extend an extra 12.7cm past the length of our Original or Organic ERGObaby Carriers, accommodating from 63.5cm to 121.9cm. The waist extension accessory is compatible with the ERGObaby Sport Carrier, but not with the Performance carriers.
SHOULDER STRAPS: The ERGObaby Sport Carrier’s shoulder straps are straight, as the Original and Organic Carriers, and can extend to 68.6 cm. The Performance Carrier’s shoulder straps are contoured; feature thinner, non-water-absorbent foam; and extend to 58.4cm, like the Original and Organic ERGObaby Carrier’s straps.
SLEEPING HOOD: The ERGObaby Sport Carrier’s sleeping hood is detachable. The Performance Carrier’s sleeping hood is attached, and stores in the zippered pocket.
