From Zora - the artist who creates these treaures
I've been making rainbow coloured toys since the early 1970s, originally for my own son Aaron. I wanted him to have toys which would stimulate his creativity and imagination, and nourish his mind and spirit. I was sick of all the plastic junk that children were exposed to, and when I couldn't find what I wanted I started making them myself!
In 1974 I saw an amazing (and truly soul-stirring!) rainbow in the sky just north of Auckland, and when Aaron turned seven I was inspired to make my first wooden rainbow. Since then I have (personally!) made thousands of them. I'm really glad to know that people have loved their rainbows for years (I regularly get emails from people telling me how much they and their children love them.) It's also great to see them around the place. They've been seen on Play School and Shortland Street, and Little Treasure's magazine voted them 'Top Toy' in 1994.
All of my toys are filled with love and are made by me right here in New Zealand. I use sustainable Pine timber, and a long lasting non-toxic colourful finish.
I hope that playing with my toys touches your soul, bringing joy and magic to you and your loved ones every day.
