Ergonomic M-Positioning

The ideal ‘M-Shape’ carry position recommended by health professionals changes as babies grow. You can use the following images as a reference to show how the Ergobaby Adapt Carrier can be adjusted to support babies at all ages and stages.

 

To achieve ‘M-shape’ with the Adapt Carrier for newborns. 1) The seat is on the narrowest setting. 2) Head / Neck support is folded to the inside of the carrier.
	To achieve ‘M-shape’ with the Adapt Carrier for larger babies. 1) The seat is on the wider setting. 2) Head / Neck support is folded to the outside of the carrier.

 

Front-Inward Carry

Age: From 0 months

• Everyday use
• Baby close and kissable
• Can nurse easily
• Baby faces in to avoid overstimulation
• Hood can hold a sleeping baby's head and provide shelter from sun and wind
• Baby's weight leans towards your center of gravity making her feel lighter
• As baby gets heavier, front carry can strain the back

Hip Carry

Age: From 6 months

• Best for around the house
• A great hands-free way to carry your baby
• Good for when your toddler wants to be picked up
• You have more space on one side for doing household chores or reaching
• Baby's weight is completely on one side of your body, so we recommend varying hips and carry positions as much as possible
• Takes a bit of practice to master this position

Back Carry

Age: From 6 months

• Best for longer treks, hiking, or extended wearing
• Baby's weight leans in making him/her feel much lighter than using other positions
• Baby has great visibility of the environment around him or her
• Baby can turn in towards parent to avoid an overstimulating situation
• Great carry position for an older baby or toddler
• Takes a bit a practice to master this position
• Never carry baby outward facing on your back
• Use "selfie" camera mode or a mirror to check on your baby
